Phantom Breaks Records

"Sold out" signs have gone up at the Alhambra Theatre as it record-breaking run of 'The Phantom of The Opera' finishes in style.
Every seat in the house has been snapped up for all remaining performances of the spectacular Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Its 20-week run ends on Wednesday after raking in record box office takings of £4 million.
The show, which stars Peter Karrle as the Phantom and Debbie Dutcher as Christine, will have attracted an astounding 175,000 theatregoers during its stay in Bradford, which began on April 1.
Advance ticket sales amounted to £2.5 million before the first curtain even went up, eclipsing the previous box office best of £2.4 million which was achieved by 'Les Misérables' in its 12-week run at the Alhambra in 1998.
The Phantom of the Opera has played in 15 countries to more than 58 million people since its premiere in 1986.
